Morgan Freney
The Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity, VIC, Australia
Dr Morgan Freney is a medical scientist at Victorian Infectious Diseases Reference Laboratory within the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity. Her main research interests are viral pathogenesis, antibody therapeutics and outbreak preparedness. She graduated from the University of Queensland in 2024 with a PhD, majoring in Virology. Her thesis work focussed on resolving high-resolution structures of Japanese encephalitis virus and other closely related mosquito-borne flaviviruses, to inform the rational design and development of novel vaccines and antibody therapeutics for the treatment and prevention of viral encephalitis. Dr Freney’s research has uncovered crucial insights into these viruses at both molecular and structural level, expanding our knowledge of cross-protective immunity.
